The POHN IT Consulting GmbH, together with the Institute of Legal Medicine of the University of Bern developed the information system SHADOW for use in forensic institutions.  This development was preceded by a nearly two-year evaluation process.  In this phase, various standard software packages and laboratory solutions to their possible use, customizability and integration options were reviewed. The Institute of Forensic Medicine, Bern came to the conclusion that only an integrated, coordinated software system with the various requirements, could meet the existing and future needs in full.
